Surveillance Review

About

Built against real footage, with a working investigator watching.

Every part of Surveillance Review was tested on genuine multi-hour surveillance files rather than on a demo reel — which is where most of what it does correctly came from.

Who built it

An engineer and someone who has done the job.

One of us builds systems for a living. The other spent a career on the side of this work where the footage actually matters. Neither perspective could have produced it alone.

Ed Bordi

Builds the software

Thirty years of shipping software — Fortune 50 enterprise systems, financial trading platforms, and an award-winning architecture role at Verizon. A formal method for cutting waste and reducing defects in a process — find the biggest bottleneck, engineer it out.; Wharton Wharton's Executive Master's in Technology Management — a graduate degree blending engineering and business.. He also runs Realiiz, building AI systems that clients own outright rather than rent.

This one started from watching someone scrub through a night of footage at 8× speed, hunting for ten seconds he already knew were in there. The problem was obvious. So was the standard any answer would have to meet: every hour accounted for, every decision on the record.

Jason DeMent

Brings the investigator’s eye

A retired police officer, and the reason this is built around what an investigation actually needs. He knows what a reviewer is looking for, what they have to be able to account for afterward, and which details matter when a case is examined months later by someone who wasn’t there.

What the software surfaces, what it records about a review, and what a report has to show were all set against how the work is really done — by someone who has done it.

Why it exists

The work does not scale, and the footage keeps getting longer.

Cameras got cheap and storage got cheaper, so a surveillance job that used to produce four hours of tape now produces four days of file. The review did not get any faster. It is the same person, watching the same empty driveway, for longer.

Automating the watching is straightforward. Automating it in a way an investigator can defend — knowing what was examined, what was skipped, and why — is the actual problem, and it is the one this is built around.

How your footage is handled

It stays on your machine, and we can prove it by what we don't build.

There is no upload step, no cloud storage, and no account that holds your cases. The analysis runs on your computer. We could not produce your footage if we were asked to, because we do not have it.

The AI description stage sends still frames and nothing else — not the video, not the case, not the notes. Everything else about the run happens locally.

What it isn't

It is a first pass, not a witness.

  • Not a substitute for watching

Every event it surfaces is for you to confirm or dismiss. The description is a starting point for your judgment, not a finding — which means the conclusion in your report is yours, made from footage you looked at, and you can say so under questioning.

  • Not a legal opinion

Nothing here makes footage Whether a court will accept something as evidence. Decided by rules and a judge, never by software. or establishes The documented trail of who handled a piece of evidence, when, and how — what a court asks for before trusting a recording. The software doesn't establish it; your process does.. What is usable as evidence is between you, your client and their counsel — and because the software never touches the original file, that original is exactly as you received it.

  • Says when it's unsure

Darkness, distance, glare and obstruction limit what any camera can capture. When the system can't be confident about a frame, it says so — rather than guessing and letting you find out later. You spend your attention on the frames that need it, and you never carry a confident-sounding description into a report that the footage can't back up.

Questions worth asking before you trust it.

Run it against a case you have already reviewed by hand. Compare what it found with what you found. That comparison is worth more than anything on this page.
