Surveillance Review

Run an analysis

One button, four stages, and what you see while it runs. Pausing and resuming is safe at any point.

On the Footage tab, every file that has not been analyzed has an Analyze button. Click it and the whole file is analyzed. To analyze only certain hours, or only part of the picture, click Select sections… first — see Sections and zones.

The four stages

  1. Motion scan — the footage is scanned for change. Still stretches, which is most of a surveillance file, are set aside here and never looked at again. Runs on your machine.
  2. Detecting objects — every moment that moved is checked for people and vehicles by a detector on your machine. A shadow crossing a parked car is not a vehicle in motion.
  3. AI analysis — only the frames that survived the first two stages are sent for a written description. This is the only stage that uses credits, and the only one that sends anything anywhere: a still image per event, nothing else.
  4. Events & clips — related moments are grouped into events, each with a clip, a still and a timestamp, ready for review.

The footage row shows which stage is running, a percentage and the elapsed time. Events appear on the Events tab as they are found; you can start reviewing before the run finishes.

Pause, resume, queue

Pause stops the run where it is; Resume picks up exactly there, even after the app has been closed and reopened — a two-hundred-hour file does not have to be done in one sitting. Cancel abandons the run. With several files ready, Analyze all N in this order queues them; drag the ⠿ handles to set the order.

How long, and how many credits

As a guide, a six-hour file finishes end to end in about twenty minutes on a current laptop. In the sections dialog the Est. credits tile estimates the cost before you commit; if the estimate exceeds your balance the app warns you first and offers Analyze anyway, in which case descriptions stop when credits run out and Fill in descriptions writes the missing ones after a top-up. Settings → Diagnostics → This computer shows what hardware the analysis is using here and what would speed it up.
