Create your account and save the recovery code

The account lives only on this computer. The recovery code is the quick way back in if you forget the password; your administrator or support is the other way.

The first time the app opens it asks you to create an account. This account exists only on this computer — there is no account server behind it, so there is no password-reset email. If you forget the password, the recovery code the app gives you gets you back in on your own, in seconds; without it, you can still get back in, but it means a call for a one-time unlock code — to your administrator on an enterprise deployment, otherwise to us.

Create the account

  1. On Create your account, enter Your name, your Email and a Password. The password needs at least 8 characters with upper- and lower-case letters, a number and a special character; the screen tells you which rule is still unmet.
  2. Click Create account.

Save the recovery code

The next screen, Save your recovery code, shows a sixteen-character code in four groups. It is shown once. Click Copy code and put it in your password manager, or write it down and keep it with your other credentials — then click I've saved it — continue.

Signing in later

After that the app opens on Sign in: email and password. To change the password, use Forgot your password? on that screen with your recovery code — it sets a new password and gives you a new code, and the old one stops working. You can also change it while signed in, under Settings → My profile → Change password, or make a fresh recovery code there with Generate a new code.

The name you entered is what the app prints on notes and in reports, and the header greets you by it. Change it any time under Settings → My profile → Save name.
